Assessment

Assessment of all training in apprenticeships and traineeships is designed to measure your performance, skills and knowledge against the standards for skills and knowledge needed in the workplace.

Assessment is ungraded. For each skill, you are assessed as either Competent (CM) or Not Yet Competent (NYC). This is different from traditional school assessment methods which grade students against each other.

Types of assessment

Your assessment at Swinburne may include:

  • projects
  • observation on the job or in a classroom simulating the workplace
  • a portfolio of work collated by the apprentice or trainee
  • written response, such as examinations and assignments
  • submission of work by email, post or hand delivery
