Innovation in the School of Business

Innovator of the Year Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY:
The purpose of the Innovator of the Year award is to recognise School Staff who have designed and implemented a significant new innovation that positively impacts the education of students in the School of Business and eCommerce.

Teachers, both full and part time are eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted by individuals or a team.

CRITERIA:
The major criteria for nomination is that the innovation has a positive impact on students’ educational process

Additional criteria to judge the merit of an innovation and its impact on students’ education are:
bulletCreativity: The innovation will be original or be a unique adaptation of an existing program, process or concept.

bulletEffectiveness: Evidence that the innovation leads to a better process for accomplishing a task(s).

bulletReplication: The significant components of the innovation can be replicated in other program areas with a minimum of difficulty. The description of the innovation will include any conditions necessary for replication.

bulletValue Addition: Evidence the innovation adds value to or improves the recipient’s vocational competence and the student’s learning experience.

bulletCurrency: Evidence the innovation is current in content and adaptive to technology.

APPLICATION:
Applications must be well presented and require endorsement by the Department Manager. Applications must include:
bulletA one to three page succinct description of the innovation and new skills gained by the recipients in developing the innovation
bulletRationale for nominating this innovation
bulletObjective/purpose of the innovation
bulletImpact of the innovation on student engagement and student outcomes.
bulletThe role/contribution of the innovation to the School/Division

PROCESS:
Applications are to be submitted to Miffra Fakhri by 5.00 pm on Friday 11 November 2005.

AWARD:
The award of $1,500 is designed to recognise innovative teaching and learning practices being developed within the School and to showcase these innovative practices so that they can be shared and transferred to other Departments across the Division.

PRESENTATION:
The School will recognise and honour the Innovators of the Year in the following ways:

bulletScholarship of $1,500 to be used for Professional Development, resource development or the purchase of equipment to facilitate and support their teaching and learning.
bulletProfiles of winner(s) in major University publications
bulletOpportunity to present at a workshop profiling the Innovation at the TAFE Management Forum, Professional Development and eLearning showcase events
