Competitive (Lean) Manufacturing – An OverviewThe newly endorsed nationally accredited training package in Competitive Manufacturing is closely linked to the philosophies of the TPS (Toyota Production System). The world’s most efficient production method, this system has revolutionised the manufacturing industry of today. Globally competitive industries know of this system as 'Lean'. The system has been successfully established in American, European and Japanese manufacturing industries over the last 30 years. Australian companies are following their lead, recognising the value and rewards to be gained by adopting a 'lean' culture. Although originating in the automotive industry, this system has been adopted and embraced by all industry sectors such as medical, financial and service and retail. With international pressures from up and coming industrial nations creating fierce competition in the manufacturing market, there is an ever growing need to stay one step ahead of the competition. Victorian industries are looking for a means to stay competitive.
