Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Renewable Energy course available
by distance learning?
No, unfortunately there are no modules
currently available to be studied via distance learning.
Is course available part-time?
Yes. The course is offered both part-time
day and part-time evening.
How many nights a week do I need to
do part-time?
There is no set number of nights required.
It is up to you to choose how much you want to do. The more you
do the quicker you will complete the course.
How many hours per night are required?
Four hours - classes commence at 5.30pm
through to 9.30pm.
Can I do individual modules without
completing the course?
Many of our students only do one or two
modules of the course to suit their needs.
Will the Diploma help me get the Australian
Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) accreditation?
Yes. The BCSE has prescribed the set
of modules required to be completed for the SPS PV accreditation,
together with additional modules for hybrid and wind energy endorsements.
Recognition of prior learning, granted to licenced electricians,
would require the completion of relatively few modules for the accreditation.
What reference materials are required for the course?
In most modules a work book is supplied and, in some instances, a further text may be required.
When do enrolments take place?
We have enrolments in February and June each year for full and part-time courses.
Are there certain modules that should be completed first?
There are pre-requisite modules that
need to be done prior to attempting more advanced modules. Swinburne
will advise you of these requirements at time of enrolment.
Do I need to bring my academic records when I come to enrol?
It would be advisable to do so if you
are a recent secondary school graduate or if believe you may be
eligible for exemptions.
Is it possible to defer enrolments until next semester?
We do not have a deferral system at TAFE,
you simply re-apply for the course.
