Suntisak Thammavongsa
Diploma of Network Engineering
An international study scholarship gave Suntisak, a high school graduate from Laos the chance to study a Diploma of Network Engineering at Swinburne TAFE.
Despite little knowledge of computers he excelled at his studies, and after undertaking IBL in the IT Department at Mt. Scopus College he returned to Laos. He found a job at Sky Telecom (an internet service provider) as a network engineer . “The skills gained at Swinburne did of course help me in getting the job because my employer valued qualifications from Australia”.
After two years he decided it was time to broaden his experience and so moved to another IT company where his knowledge of TCP/IP networking (an important part of his Diploma course) proved to be very useful.
Suntisak is soon to return to Australia to undertake a Bachelor of Computing degree.
