Course:

Diploma Sport and Recreation
2008
Swinburne University Sport and Recreation

What did you hope to gain from completing this course?

With an interest in sport, particularly women’s football, my goal was always to achieve full time employment in the Sport & Recreation industry.  I hoped that by completing the Diploma in Sport & Recreation, it would contribute to a career in Sport.

What did you enjoy about the course?
Whilst undertaking this course, the practical experiences I was involved in and or managed was an enjoyable successfully run leadership camp for Swinburne sport students

Can you tell us about the projects you have worked on?
2007 Australian Football Coaching Conference
2007 International Rules
2008 Australian University Games – Team Manager for Basketball
2008 Leadership Camp in Phillip Island
2008 Recreation Program in Wantirna – worked closely with SSAA to deliver these programs

What are you doing now?
In January 2009, I was asked by AFL’s Female Development Manager Chyloe Kurdas if I would be interested in undertaking a position at the AFL as a Female Development Officer- working 2 days a week, which I accepted. I was the only applicant who was offered this job. I believed this would be a great experience for me, as well as it would be of an assistance to me  in the future when I start looking for full time employment in the industry.
